Roanoke Social Media
In the City of Roanoke, social media is an important tool for both informing and engaging citizens. The city launched its first social media page back in 2008. In 2017, the city hit 190,000 followers on its 60+ social media pages combined. Dozens of city departments are using social media to connect with citizens like never before. Many pages are updated daily with creative content to engage with citizens.

Submit Service Requests on Twitter
Reporting potholes, downed trees, and other issues to the city is now just a tweet away. Using the city’s new iROANOKE Twitter account, residents can tweet issues to @iROANOKE for response by city crews. The iROANOKE Twitter account integrates directly with the city’s Citizen Request Management System. The system allows staff to log, route, and manage all tweets to the iROANOKE account. Residents who send tweets will receive notifications on Twitter regarding the status of the issue. When sending a tweet, residents should include the exact location of the problem and a photo if possible.
The iROANOKE Twitter account will be monitored Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Social Media Center
With so many social media pages, the city uses an application called Uberflip, to pull together posts. By visiting Roanoke's Social Media Center, users can see feeds from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., in one central location without having to log into an account. The center updates automatically whenever a department posts to one of their social media accounts. Users also have the option to select different department streams by using the drop-down menu at the top. Click here to visit Roanoke's Social Media Center.
